Rather than wait until the next point update to drop, Apple on Thursday pushed out minor "supplemental updates" to both OS X Mountain Lion as well as OS X Lion to address a few issues.
Apple released a pair of supplemental updates on Thursday afternoon, aimed at users of both OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 as well as the previous OS X Lion 10.7.5. The updates can be downloaded manually from the Apple website, or installed directly from the Mac App Store's Updates tab in the case of OS X Mountain Lion.
First up is the OS X v10.8.2 Supplemental Update 1.0, a 26.65MB download aimed at four specific fixes:
- Resolves an issue that may cause certain Japanese characters to appear incorrectly in Mail
- Allows Safari to access secure sites when parental controls are enabled
- Addresses an issue that may prevent systems with more than 64 GB of RAM from starting up
- Resolves an issue that may cause DVD Player to unexpectedly quit
Not to be forgotten, there's also a OS X Lion 10.7.5 Supplemental Update available weighing in at a mere 2MB that specifically addresses two issues:
- Resolves an issue that may cause Time Machine backups to take a very long time to complete
- Addresses an issue that prevents certain applications signed with a Developer ID from launching
Apple also released printer driver updates for both Epson and Lexmark models on Thursday afternoon. Nothing earth-shattering here, but always good to keep up-to-date, so… you know what to do!
