Hey you, Mac developer! Have you been toiling away in the dark, working on The Next Great Mac App Store App for the forthcoming OS X Lion? If so, it’s time to wrap up your work and submit it to Apple before it ships this month.
Apple announced on Monday that Mac developers should start submitting their OS X Lion apps for the Mac App Store ahead of the imminent release of the eighth major operating system release for the Mac this month.
“OS X Lion, the eighth major release of the world's most advanced operating system, will soon be available to millions of Mac users around the world,” the announcement reads. “Submit your Lion apps for review now so they can be on the Mac App Store when Lion ships this month.”
For many of us, the announcement came as sobering news, since it now seems unlikely that Apple will uncage OS X Lion this week as widely rumored -- at least not if they want to have Lion-specific apps featured on the Mac App Store alongside the release, that is. Allowing a week to 10 days for Mac App Store approval, it now appears that the earliest we might see OS X Lion is mid-next week.
“Be sure to build, test and compile your apps using Mac OS X Lion GM Seed and Xcode 4.1 for Lion GM seed prior to uploading your binary to iTunes Connect,” the announcement concludes.
You can bet that the moment OS X Lion gets released exclusively to the Mac App Store this month, MacLife.com will pounce on the news like a hungry… er, Lion… and let you know!
