Apple Sues HTC for Patent Infringement

If you thought the smartphone patent battles would end with Nokia vs. Apple, think again: Cupertino has just filed a lawsuit against HTC.
PR Newswire is reporting on Apple’s latest patent battle, with the company filing a lawsuit against HTC for “infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware.” In a sign that Cupertino isn’t messing around, the lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) as well as in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
"We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We've decided to do something about it," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours."
Apple recently filed a countersuit in their legal battle with cellphone giant Nokia, with the ITC planning to look into both companies’ claims of patent infringement,
according to AppleInsider.
And the ITC isn’t done with Apple yet: Kodak also filed a claim against the company alleging that Apple is in violation of patents that relate to “the previewing of images and processing them at different resolutions.”
