If you're tired of waiting for the iPhone 4 or iPad to become available, then maybe you'll like to hear that Apple is doing its best to shrink the waiting lists it has going for the two devices. Apple already regularly maintains a "Priority List" that helps them ramp up production, but some stores have anywhere from 250 to 750 people on the waiting list for iPads, and 500 to 1,500 for iPhone 4s.
The plan is to fill all of these orders by the weekend by having all of the Apple Store store managers in during the weekend so that "all hands are on deck." Apple could also open stores earlier on Sunday to bring in more customers and get their orders processed at an earlier time, leaving the rest of the day to deal with the onslaught of passersby--or, y'know, take more orders for the iPad and iPhone.
The likelihood of Apple actually getting through all those orders is slim to none, but at least the company is taking steps to ensure that lines move faster and all customers are attended to.
