Crack open your wallets, sportsfans, because two of the final items in everyone's "what I need before I'll cancel my cable" list have been crossed off: live streams of MLB and NBA games are available via the Apple TV.

How do you get such wonderful content? You need to update your Apple TV, then you need to subscribe to MLB.TV ($19.99/month or $99.99/year), or the NBA League Pass Broadband service ($65 to watch 7 teams, $99 to watch all 30), then you need to get yourself a drink and something to eat, and then you need to sit back and relax, watching enough live sports to make your head spin.
It's worth mentioning that this new content doesn't reflect any kind of Apple TV App Store; both MLB and NBA content will utilize built-in apps, like Netflix, so this doesn't necessarily reflect a coming surge of Apple TV Apps.
If you love baseball and basketball, but aren't quite ready to drop $100 to watch them, or don't have a need to see them live, you can rent individual games via iTunes for 99 cents.
