Once called a hobby, the Apple TV is now selling out in many Apple retail store locations across the country. Because of this, at least one research analyst is predicting sales of 1 million units per quarter, which is one-third the sales of the iPad.
JMP Analyst Alex Guana reports, "The new Apple TV product has continued to sell out in Apple stores across the nation after its launch last week.” He goes on to say that the $99 price tag is, "resonating with consumers.”
After checking multiple stores across the country, Guana found that the device is just as scarce as the iPhone 4, with stores in Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. selling out of inventory the same day as the release.
This is definitely good news for Apple, but bad news for both Google and consumers that just want to get their hands on an Apple TV.

I foundnit at the less busy apple store...but when I called they said to hurry in as there were only a few left in stock. The other store was sold out.
They still have the Apple TV in the back of the store and were displaying on a crappy 480i flatscreen. I love the Netflix interface, and being able to get all three of my computers connected for iTunes. But the renting of the TV shows isn't appealing. I either buy a season to watch or just catch stuff on the free hulu app since my mac mini is attached to my TV
