Developers, we know how you’ll be spending your weekend -- Apple has just released a third build of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion via Software Update in the form of a 1.22GB update to Lion Developer Preview 2.
AppleInsider is reporting that Apple has pushed out an updated build of Lion Developer Preview 2 via Software Update, a developer-only update for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. Despite the confusing number, the 1.22GB download is actually the third build, which follows on the heels of an update earlier this month.
“Apple gave no details about what changes or fixes come in the latest build,” AppleInsider noted. “But any changes are likely to be minor, as it is not labeled as a full fledged ‘Preview 3.’ People familiar with the latest build say it is dubbed version 11A444d.”
According to MacStories.net, today’s update features “a snappier Finder, a better UI for deleting apps from the Launchpad, and lots of design tweaks to changes introduced in the previous DP builds.”
Lion Developer Preview 2 was first pushed out to developers on March 30, which was the first to utilize a redemption code on the Mac App Store for delivery. Once installed this way, additional updates are pushed via the Software Update mechanism, including the one Apple released today.
Accompanying the update to Lion Developer Preview 2 is an update to Xcode 4.1 Developer Preview 4, available to developers in the Mac Dev Center which adds support for NSPopover and NSWindow animations as well as additional enhancements and bug fixes.
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is set for release this summer, and Apple will likely show off additional features of the next major release at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco which kicks off June 6.
