New information has suggested that Apple has built nearly all of the required support for OpenGL 3.0 into Mac OS X 10.6.3 according to MacRumors.
Twenty-two out of twenty-three extensions would now be supported. The majority of the associated OpenGL 3.0-specific functions, are not yet supported however.
The public release of Mac OS X 10.6.2 only lends support to fifteen out of twenty-three OpenGL 3.0 extensions, which would lend credibility to Apple rapidly moving to giving full support for OpenGL 3.0. The move would offer an increase in graphics performance for Mac computers. Current Mac model graphics cards already support the 3.0 version of OpenGL, but the software support in Snow Leopard to take advantage of this, has not yet shown up.
