Apple.com Gets Facelift with Darker Navigation and Animations
If you were up in the wee hours of Wednesday morning -- perhaps too excited to sleep with Macworld Expo 2011 just around the corner -- you may have noticed that Apple’s website got a few subtle tweaks.
MacRumors is reporting that Apple.com got a few modest tweaks overnight, including a darker navigation bar “as well as spring loaded and slide-in animations for products.” The subtle design changes made the Apple online store unavailable for night owl shoppers.
Many were expecting the appearance of a long-awaited entry to Apple’s web store in the form of the elusive white iPhone 4. “Some last-minute part numbers had suggested the long-awaited white iPhone 4 may have been making an appearance, but that was not the case,” MacRumors notes. “The online store has adopted the new darker navigation bar, but there are no signs of new products.”
At least, not yet -- we’re sure that Apple will be stocking their virtual store shelves with some new goodies soon enough.

Strangely the App Preview part of the site still uses the old, light gray navigation bar.

Nobody should have been expecting a white iPhone 4, since Apple has said quite clearly that one won't be available until Spring (Northern Hemisphere) ;o]. I'd give it another two months.
But the Verizon iPhone they did put up was also a no-brainer. Availability for existing Verizon customers was announced to be February 2, and general availability for February 10th. How did anyone think they were going to do that without putting it up on the Apple store?
I called this last night while the store was still down. Many readers did too, right? RIGHT? ;o)
