App-o-Day Aims to Become the Groupon of Apps

While it’s easy to find amazing deals on most every aspect of our lives thanks to the internet, discovering new apps can be a challenge -- and discovering App Store deals can be downright impossible. Enter Iddiction, Inc., whose new App-o-Day service is being billed as “the Groupon for apps.”
Iddiction, Inc. has announced the company’s debut app, App-o-Day. Promising to find you the best app deals in the App Store, Iddiction is the brainchild of former Outfit7 CEO Andrej Nabergoj, who successfully maneuvered that company’s Talking Friends app series into more than 300 million downloads.
Nabergoj’s new venture aims to cut through the clutter of more than half a million choices in the App Store, providing only the best apps directly to consumers. How it works is simple: Users can either download the free App-o-Day app from the App Store, or visit the company’s website, Twitter feed or Facebook page. Discover the best, newest, hottest daily app deals -- curated and delivered to your phone daily -- then grab the deal direct from the App Store.
“Many developers are already discounting and promoting their apps,” Nabergoj explains. “It’s very confusing for the users. We have created a gorgeous-looking, user-focused and unified platform to promote those deals in a transparent way, and our selection will be highly curated. We will feature only one deal at a time, and we’re interested in showcasing the hard-to-find, the up-and-comers, the unexpected.
“The App Store itself is the best place to discover and download new apps,” Nabergoj concludes. “But we take it to the next level -- giving consumers a very focused and convenient way to find fresh new apps or games, and giving independent developers a new platform to promote their handiwork.”
Ready to grab those deals? Head to the App Store and download the 9.3MB App-o-Day app, which works with any device running iOS 4.0 or later. The current app doesn’t feature a native experience for the iPad, but the company promises a tablet version later this year.
