One of the caveats for developers when it comes to WWDC, is the chance to be considered in Apple's Apple Design Award Competition, which is a program that recognizes apps that "set the standard for excellence" on Apple's platforms. Quietly announced in today's WWDC details though, was that apps must be included in the App Store by May 23rd in order to be up for an award.
As MacRumors pointed out, Apple had received some negative feedback last year for its choice to not offer up Apple Design Awards for Mac OS X apps, and only in iPad and iPhone categories. The choice was made because apparently Apple was not wanting to show off Mac OS X Lion just yet, and instead focused on iOS.
Such will not be the case this year as Apple has added Mac OS X apps back into this year's competition, with both Mac OS X and iOS apps being considered.
So if your a developer that would like to be considered, make sure your app makes it to the App Store before May 23rd!
