Google has partnered with the indie rock band Arcade Fire to release a new HTML5-based music video website. The site is based around the song by Arcade Fire called "We Used to Wait." The mesmerizing video entitled "The Wilderness Downtown" is directed by Chris Milk and features Google Map integration.
You begin the video by entering the address of the home you grew up in, then after a few minutes of loading, you are presented with a few pop-up windows that play the various pieces of the music video. We were completely in awe as the windows danced around our desktop, and then a Google Street View and Satellite view map of our old home appeared. This music video is something that words can only begin to express.
Because we know you will want to experience this video for yourself, you can see the video by opening The Wilderness Downtown website in any HTML5-compliant web browser, including Google Chrome and Apple's Safari. While iOS and Android devices have support for HTML5, we wouldn't bother even trying this out on those devices. The "experiment" is processor intensive and involves multiple browser windows to be open.
