Say what you will about the iPhone 4's antenna woes, it's still the most advanced handset Apple has produced to date. Boasting significant improvements over the 3GS, there's plenty that's wonderful about the handset--just ask any number of indie directors or cinematographers using the iPhone 4 to shoot and edit their films.
CNN posted an interesting read detailing how many independent artists are turning to the iPhone 4's high definition video recording capabilities and iMovie App to shoot, edit and polish their handheld masterpieces on the cheap, depending on whether you consider the phone's high, no contract cost as being cheap.
The feature touches on a number of topics that'll be of interest to videographers considering the handset as an option. The pros and cons of shooting and editing on the handset are discussed, as well as the experience of importing movies to a Mac for editing. The story also speaks of the unique way one iPhone user made good on the size of the iPhone 4, leaving it running whilst wedged into a moving model train set to garner a brilliant, one-of-a-kind shot.
Perhaps the best part of CNN's feature is seeing the enthusiasm that the film makers have embraced Cupertino's handset with--a nice change from all the complaints over the phone's reception problems.
