If you're an AT&T customer looking to upgrade or replace your current iPhone (or other smartphone), before your two-year contract is up, expect to be coughing up a little more change. The early upgrade price has increased by $50 for all models. Ouch.
Beginning this week, early upgrade pricing for the 8GB iPhone 3GS is $299, the 16GB iPhone 4 is $449, and the 32GB iPhone 4 is $549. Those pricing changes were confirmed by AT&T, reported AppleInsider.
"We've updated our early upgrade and no commitment price points for smartphones and feature phones," said a company spokesman. "Only customers who are not yet upgrade eligible or who do not want to sign a contract are impacted."
"As mobile devices become more sophisticated, their cost goes up. This change reflects the increased costs, while still allowing us to offer customers the latest device before they qualify. We're happy to discuss individual account and upgrade needs one-on-one with customers."
What do you think readers? Do you buy AT&T's reasoning? Or not so much? If you were thinking of upgrading or replacing your current smartphone, will this deter you now? Feel free to leave your thoughts below!
