Presumably tired of the beating it’s taken with customers and Verizon ads alike, AT&T is fighting back with a new iPhone app dedicated to reporting trouble spots with its network.
The free app, available now, is called
AT&T Mark the Spot, and its mission is clear: For AT&T to enlist its customers in discovering the weak spots in their network. (Or as they put it, to provide customers “a means to provide feedback on network user experience to AT&T.”)
Among the app’s features are the ability to submit a real-time report capturing local GPS coordinates at the time & place of event, submit a report after the fact when a customer is not at the place of event, submit a report of dropped call, lack of coverage, data service failure or poor voice quality and submitting optional specific comments about an event.
Customers can also choose to receive SMS acknowledgment that their reported event was sent & received successfully.
AT&T Marks the Spot is compatible with all iPhone models and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
