While AppleCare is notoriously selective when it comes to fixing hardware issues (never EVER trip the water damage sensor), AppleInsider has reported that Best Buy has got your back. They are extending their "Black Tie Protection" service to the iPhone 3G S, which covers drops, spills, and other hardware failures that were your fault, in addition to the coverage that Apple provides. That said, the coverage costs more than an arm and a leg, and will retail for $15 a month, which, over the two year period of the iPhone contract, will run you almost as much as two 16GB iPhones, $360. Considering, though, that replacing your iPhone while still in your contract will cost the full upgrade price of $600 or $700, it might just be worth it. Just plan on breaking your iPhone a couple times to get your money's worth.

I bought the best buy warranty for my 3g because after working for apple I know what kind of bs they can lay down when they dont want to cover you, but the blue shirt at bb told me specifically that the only situations that they dont cover are loss and submersion (spills were ok but the toilet - nope)
