Do you have a bad habit of dropping your phones in toilets, pools, or other bodies of water? Do people call you butterfingers because you can't pick up your phone without sending it crashing to the floor? Don't worry, you might not be resigned to the ugly fate of purchasing a Motorola i580.
While AppleCare is notoriously selective when it comes to fixing hardware issues (never EVER trip the water damage sensor), AppleInsider has reported that Best Buy has got your back. They are extending their "Black Tie Protection" service to the iPhone 3G S, which covers drops, spills, and other hardware failures that were your fault, in addition to the coverage that Apple provides. That said, the coverage costs more than an arm and a leg, and will retail for $15 a month, which, over the two year period of the iPhone contract, will run you almost as much as two 16GB iPhones, $360. Considering, though, that replacing your iPhone while still in your contract will cost the full upgrade price of $600 or $700, it might just be worth it. Just plan on breaking your iPhone a couple times to get your money's worth.
