We've seen some weird stuff on the App Store over the past couple years, but this one is right up there at the top of the weirdness list. Someone over at the WWE has masterminded a new iOS game that combines the gameplay of Angry Birds with the superstars (as they like to refer to them) of the WWE wrestling organization.

It's called WWE Superstar Slingshot [iTunes Link], and we're really not sure what inspired them to release this rampant pile of ridiculousness. The most bizarre part about it? It may not actually be terrible. Early reviews are coming in, and it seems like the game may actually be pretty decent. Never mind the fact that the setting makes even less sense than angry birds (your opponents seem to have barricaded themselves inside the ring behind wood, cement, chairs, tables etc) if the gameplay is fun then that's all that matters.

It's strange how these things work. On one hand we have the utterly brilliant idea of adapting the Monty Python and the Holy Grail livestock catapult into an Angry Birds clone [iTunes Link], and on the other we have the nonsensical WWE Superstar Slingshot. Somehow it seems like the latter of those two will end up being the better clone. Which, now that we think about it, makes us pretty sad.

We're honestly still having trouble figuring out whether this is amazing or the stupidest app we've ever seen. We'll let you know when we come to a consensus. WWE Superstar Slingshot is available now on all iOS devices for $1.99.
