Just like all good things, they're sometimes better when you have to wait. Boot Camp support for Windows 7 is no exception.
BootCamp Software 3.1 is now compatible with all versions of Windows, including Windows 7. The update also fixes any issues with the Apple trackpad, turns off the red digital audio port LED light on MacBooks and MacBook Pros when it is not in use and adds support for Apple's wireless keyboard and mouse lineup.
In addition to the updated Boot Camp Software, there's a Boot Camp Utility for Windows 7 upgrade that, "Safely unmounts the read-only Macintosh volume on Microsoft Vista." This update address an issue where users get the error code "0x80070005" when upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. It happens when the Windows installer tries to write to a read-only Macintosh volume.
You can download the updates by opening Software Update in Windows, or by downloading the installer package for the following versions: Boot Camp Utility for Windows 7 Upgrade, 32-bit Boot Camp Software 3.1, or 64-bit Boot Camp Software 3.1.
