Borders Survey Name Drops the Apple iPad
Posted 08/14/2009 at 12:20:43pm | by Roberto Baldwin

If you're a friend of Borders (and really, who isn't?), you may have received an email asking you to take a survey to receive a 20%-off coupon. Being the penny-pinching book lovers we are, we decided to take this survey for the benefit of our bank account.

While randomly checking off answers, we noticed something odd. Borders wants to know if we plan on purchasing an "Apple IPAD (Large Screen Reading Device)" this year.

Does Borders know something we don't know? Are they in cahoots with Apple, and will the fabled Apple Tablet double as a Kindle killer? Or, as we are lead to believe, has Borders finally mastered the art of "future viewing?"

Of course they also call the iPod touch the Apple iTouch, so let that sink in before running to the hills and screaming, "The IPAD is coming, the IPAD is coming!"

Whatever role Borders plays in the introduction of an Apple Tablet will probably be a mystery until Steve pulls it out of his magical bag of tricks.

Check out the survey yourself. Hey, 20% off is a good deal.

avatarMultiple Vertical Markets

I'm convinced that if this device is running a version of OS X, then it won't be long until it infiltrates multiple vertical markets. Not only could the iPad be used as a "Reader", media player, portable netbook/tablet(and hopefully dockable). I'm convinced that, through all his recent experience, Steve Jobs has seen that the medical establishment could benefit greatly from a portable input pad(iPad).
