In case you hadn’t noticed, the App Store opened its doors for business again Tuesday, again serving up new releases and updates after the holiday freeze. The developers of Camera+ have shared their sales figures for the holiday, hitting a high of 78,000 on Christmas day alone.
MacRumors is reporting that developers appear to have had a nice boost in holiday sales over the weekend, in keeping with tradition over the last couple of years. The Christmas bump is generally credited to a rush of gifted iOS devices as well as iTunes gift cards being cashed in.
Since the App Store was essentially frozen to developers over the holiday, Tuesday was their first chance to see exactly how well they did. Camera+ creators taptaptap provided MacRumors with an exclusive peek at their sales figures for the app, which held strong in sixth place on Christmas day.
So how many downloads does it take to get to sixth place? Apparently 78,995, which is how many new purchases the Camera+ app racked up on December 25. That puts $54,743 into the developer’s coffers after Apple’s 30 percent cut. As you can see from the chart above, the Camera+ app has been enjoying a nice ride around the top ten, hitting number two in the Top Paid Apps prior to Christmas, and ranked number 11 as of this writing.
Camera+ was also in a similar position at the same time last year, racking up more than 79,000 downloads on Christmas day 2009 with a number three ranking at that time.
