You may recall the popular Camera+ app, which was yanked out of the App Store by Apple for a hidden feature that let you use the volume buttons as a camera shutter. Now the app is back with over 50 new features and a limited-time low price.
MacRumors is reporting that developers taptaptap released their latest Camera+ 2.0 app on Tuesday, after a four-month absence from the App Store. Among the new features of the popular app are Touch Exposure and Focus on iOS 4-enabled iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS models, a Photo Flashlight to brighten up your photos and much more.
Camera+ was an extremely popular app prior to be temporarily banned from the App Store after it was revealed that the developers had hidden a feature they called “VolumeSnap” into the previous version. VolumeSnap allowed the user to remap the iPhone volume button to trigger the camera shutter, an often-requested feature by users that Apple thus far refuses to implement. The feature was hidden, and once discovered by Apple, the app was quickly removed for violating their terms of service four months ago.
Needless to say, Camera+ 2.0 arrives without the hidden “Easter egg” feature, but it makes up for it with more than 50 new features and a slick new interface that’s sure to please iPhone photographers everywhere. The company has partnered with professional photographer Lisa Bettany to create dozens of amazing effects right from within the app, and many more will come via in-app purchases, one of which is available at launch.
Perhaps the best news is that Camera+ 2.0 is on sale for a limited time -- the usual price of $1.99 has been slashed to only 99 cents, making this a no-brainer purchase for even casual photographers. Camera+ 2.0 is available now and requires iOS 3.1 or later.
