Geofencing is becoming all the rage these days, allowing iOS users to do almost anything based on their location. Now, users can add photo uploading to that list thanks to CameraSync 1.3.
Developer Alex Price has announced the availability of CameraSync 1.3 on Tuesday, a big update to his popular universal iOS app for uploading photos to your favorite cloud storage or photo service, including Dropbox, Flickr or even an FTP server.
Inspired by the background location sync feature recently added to News.me and Instapaper, Price has added the ability for CameraSync to automatically upload photos from your iOS device any time they arrive at a preset location.
For example, most of us prefer to upload photos at home, where we're assured of a good Wi-Fi signal. Users can take their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad out and about, snapping photos and even movies along the way, and CameraSync will then upload them to the desired service once the device arrives back at that location. (Geofencing on iOS is currently limited to the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and new iPad.)
The update also adds the option to sync all existing photos from a specific date forward, as well as addresses a few bugs and even brings compatibility fixes for "future iOS versions" like the upcoming iOS 6.
CameraSync 1.3 is now available from the App Store for $2.99; as always, the update is free for existing users. The universal app is compatible with all devices running iOS 4.3 or later.
