Arcade fans with an iPhone or iPod touch, rejoice! Capcom has made your dreams come true today by announcing the immediate availability of Street Fighter IV to Apple’s App Store.
Capcom is widely known as a leading developer and publisher of video games the world over, with their popular Street Fighter games being among them. Now, the gaming company has rebuilt the hotly anticipated
Street Fighter IV from the ground up to take full advantage of the iPhone OS platform, while remaining true to the legendary series’ high-action arcade roots.
Street Fighter IV brings eight classic characters from the blockbuster console version, including Ryu, Chun Li, Able, Blanka, M. Bison, Dhalsim, Guile and Ken, putting them in seven realistic environments. Veteran players will instantly recognize the game’s robust move sets, including Unique Attacks, Special Moves, Focus Attacks, Super Combos and Ultra Combos. But the advanced fighting experience is also open to newcomers by way of the game’s new “Dojo” mode -- get on the path to becoming a world warrior by following simple to advanced lessons in order to dominate the game.
Of course, no fighting game is complete without a multiplayer mode, and Street Fighter IV will not disappoint. Players can battle head-to-head in “Versus” mode via Bluetooth, bringing the excitement of the arcade to the palm of their hand.
Capcom has introduced a unique new “Visual Pad” system specifically for the iPhone. By activating “SP Move Assist,” players can trigger their character’s Special Moves with the tap of a button and a directional input. Hardcore gamers can disable the feature and enter the complete command manually as well. The interface is fully customizable, so you can reposition the controls anywhere you like on screen as well as selecting your own level of transparency.
Street Fighter IV is rated 12+ for frequent/intense realistic violence, requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod touch. The $9.99 app is
available for download now.
