Japanese company Capcom and its American counterpart, Capcom USA, along with SEGA will be slashing prices on some of their most popular games in order to raise money for Japan Relief funds. Notable titles like Street Fighter 4 [iTunes Link] and several Sonic the Hedgehog games are being included in the sale.
The sale includes all four SEGA Sonic iOS games: Sonic 1 [iTunes Link], Sonic 2 [iTunes Link], and Sonic Spinball [iTunes Link] which are played using the Genesis emulator, as well as Sonic 4 [iTunes Link] which is an all new title developer specifically for touch screen controls. In addition to their App Store sale, Capcom announced that they will be waiving the monthly service fee for users of the extremely popular (in Japan) PSP game Monster Hunter Frontier Online in tsunami affected areas.
One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Red Cross Japan disaster relief fund. The sale alone is very generous, but the move by Capcom to waive service fees for gamers in the affected areas nearly brings a tear to the eye. Many of these people have lost everything and allowing some of them to have a little bit of diversion from the horrifying reality of what they're facing is extremely thoughtful.
Excuse us while we go buy copies of Street Fighter 4 for everyone we know.
