Despite the proliferation of apps like Bump which use the iPhone to swap contact data, good old-fashioned business cards are still a necessity -- even though most of us discard them after putting the data in our address book. Now you can simplify that process with Card Scanner Pro.
Readdle has announced the availability of Card Scanner Pro, a new iPhone app dedicated to making short work of scanning business cards and saving that data as a new contact in your address book. While there may already be solutions to this problem on the App Store already, few appear to do it as elegantly as Readdle’s solution.
Card Scanner Pro makes the magic happen in three easy steps. Snap the business card with your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS camera and the app will recognize all fields on the card -- including name, email address, postal address and more. The app then saves these details to your device’s address book, where it can be synced back to your computer using MobileMe, iTunes or other options.
"Among dozens of business cards there is always a few that can be like a gold dust for you", explains Alex Tyagulsky, Readdle co-founder. "Card Scanner Pro saves the information from a paper business card to your iPhone, excluding the possibility of losing important contacts."
The app features best in class OCR technology from ABBYY, promising to deliver perfect recognition accuracy and contact details assigned to the proper fields with each scan. Users retain full control over the process, with the ability to preview and make any necessary changes prior to saving. You’ll also view the corresponding part of the source image scan for easy verification while making changes.
Card Scanner Pro is now available on the App Store for only $6.99 and is compatible with any iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.0 or later.
