Chillingo, the publisher behind games like Cut the Rope and Guerilla Bob, announced that its currently working to bring the B-list PC first person shooter Painkiller to iOS platforms. The original Painkiller was developed by People Can Fly for the PC platform and was widely known for its incredibly over-the-top action and violence.
Painkiller casts you as a recently deceased man who died in a car crash with his wife. Before that gets too sentimental, you're sent to purgatory where you catch wind of an impending invasion of the living worlds by the generals of Lucifer. The solution: shoot 'em. Shoot 'em a lot.
Painkiller isn't just about the blood though, it's also about the absurd weaponry you're gifted in order to elicit the aforementioned blood. Guns tend not to shoot bullets as much as giant spinning blades that pin your enemies to the walls. It can get pretty brutal. The game isn't set for release for another full month, but given the success of iPhone FPS games over the past couple of years, this is definitely a game to keep on your radar.
