Apparently China Unicom has won out for launching both the iPhone 4 AND iPad in China. The iPhone 4 should be available in early September whilst no release date has yet been set for the iPad.
It had been reported on that last month a China Unicom exec flew to the U.S. to meet with Apple brass for finalizing a deal for the iPad as well as the iPhone 4 to distribute the devices in China.
The Wall Street Journal had also recently reported that China Unicom would start to sell iPhone 3GS models with Wi-Fi enabled earlier this month. The device had previously had to have Wi-Fi disabled in order to fall in line with governmental regulations.
