Chrome Extensions Arrive on Mac

It was the biggest let down when Chrome was first released. Whaaaat? No
Mac version? But, but, but, Apple and Google were the best of buds back
in those days. How could they do this to us? How could they treat us
like that?
Then Chrome arrived for Macs. And another heartbreak
followed in its wake. Every single new feature they've added to the
browser, Google has rolled out first for Windows users months earlier.
And this time is no exception.
Just in time for the big Macworld
2010 event going down in San Francisco, word comes by way of the
Official Google Blog that the latest Chrome Beta for Mac has arrived.
And with it, come features that have been operational on Windows Chrome
for months now. Namely, extensions and syncing of bookmarks.
For
those not in the know on Chrome, extensions are like add-ons in Firefox.
There are the usual kind of suspects, a Twitter client, a Facebook
poster, an extension to handle PDFs and, almost hilariously, an Ad
Blocker -- amusing when you consider Google's primary source of revenue.

Also released with this new beta is syncing of your bookmarks
which means that cool thing you saw at work that you wanted to look at
more? Well, if you bookmarked it on your work Chrome (and you have
syncing operational), it'll be there in your home Chrome too. Sort of
like Firefox Weave.
As Google begins to build up their browser,
we're beginning to wonder if it'll finally reach the point where Firefox
has, where it starts to become a major resource pig, bloated and slow.
Right now, as one of the zippiest browsers out there, we're glad to see
easy to add and remove extensions in the mix. We just hope Chrome stays
true to its mission of a slick, sleek, speedy internet experience.
To
download the Beta, go here. If you're already a Chrome user, expect it
to update relatively soon with all the new goodness.
