Only a few short days after Sega used their emulation software to release the Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2 on iOS devices, we're getting another classic Genesis game. Sega's Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master [iTunes Link] is pretty much the pinnacle of ninja-slicing insanity.
The game begins naturally enough for a ninja game, but before you know it you're throwing shurikens at a four-armed samurai. The insanity continues to ramp up until you're battling a giant brain-like creature (see above screenshot), and ninja-surfing across the ocean...unfortunately, not at the same time.
The App Store has become a wonderful hub for re-releases of classic games from long-dead systems. Let's just hope this Genesis emulation trend continues long enough for us to get iPhone versions of Battletoads and Contra 3: The Alien Wars.
