Fresh off its controversial award as "Best of Show" for CES 2013, DISH is rolling out the Hopper with Sling DVR to satellite customers nationwide, complete with iPad app for offline viewing.
DISH announced Monday that its new Hopper with Sling Whole-Home HD DVR is available to customers starting today, and is kicking off the launch with a new multimillion-dollar national marketing campaign featuring its own "Boston Guys."
As you may recall, Hopper with Sling was awarded "Best of Show" by CNET editors at CES 2013 until parent company CBS forced the staff to vote again, citing pending litigation with DISH over the gadget's ability to skip television commercials.
That vote was overturned by International CES themselves, and DISH is proudly using its "Best of Show" award to help promote the new technology, which includes a free Hopper Transfers app for moving recorded television to an iPad, even without an internet connection.
Best of all, Hopper with Sling DVR is available free to DISH customers who subscribe to the company's America's Top 200 or DishLATINO Dos packages or greater, which includes one Hopper plus up to three Joey units (for beaming content to other rooms of the house) as well as standard professional installation. For everyone else, the Hopper with Sling requires a $10 per month DVR fee or $7 per month for each Joey.
