The tenth annual D: All Things Digital conference kicks off tonight in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California with Apple CEO Tim Cook in the hot seat for the first time, being interviewed by co-hosts Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher.
D: All Things Digital begins Tuesday night at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The Wall Street Journal-backed conference has been a staple for a decade now, celebrating its tenth anniversary today with the launch of D10.
The brainchild of journalists and co-hosts Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, this year’s event will be of particular interest to Apple fans, as CEO Tim Cook will be interviewed in the hot seat as the opening night speaker. His predecessor, Steve Jobs, appeared at the conference several times in the past, most notably in 2007 at D5, both solo and alongside Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates just prior to the release of the original iPhone.
Other speakers at this year’s D10 include Tony Bates of Skype, Dr. Ed Catmull of Pixar, Daniel Ek of Spotify, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Zynga founder Mark Pincus, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and others.
While the event is usually not streamed live, All Things D posts video of the speakers fairly quickly and the conference will be liveblogged by a number of websites, as well as via Twitter. D10 kicks off today and runs through May 31, 2012.
