If you’ve been waiting for iPad subscriptions to arrive, you may not have to wait much longer -- Apple and News Corp. have sent invitations for select members of the media to join them next Wednesday as they unveil their iPad-only digital newspaper, The Daily.
AppleInsider is reporting that News Corp. and Apple have issued a joint invitation to the media for next Wednesday, February 2 to announce the long-awaited iPad-only digital periodical The Daily at a special event in New York City at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
"News Corporation's Chairman & CEO Rupert Murdoch invites you to the launch of: The Daily," reads the media invite, which promises to feature News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch as well as Apple’s vice president of Internet Services, Eddy Cue, whose division manages iTunes.
The Daily is a digital-only publication which Murdoch recently confirmed will cost 99 cents per week when it launches, presumably either next week or shortly thereafter. The iPad-only periodical is widely expected to bring subscription billing to iTunes at long last, which should open the door to more paid content publications in the future.
The media event kicks off at 11am EST on Wednesday, February 2.
