While DC Comics may be a no-show on the iPad at launch, that doesn’t mean that at least one of their artists isn’t checking out its potential.Comic book fans were lit up on Twitter on Monday as acclaimed DC Comics illustrator Jim Lee began sharing some of his early iPad sketches with the world. While Lee is likely best known as a penciller for DC’s bestselling comic books and graphic novels -- including All Star Batman & Robin and Batman: Hush -- he also founded his own company, WildStorm Studios, in 1992.
Lee’s first iPad sketches feature the popular Batman villains Catwoman and The Joker, although they weren’t without a little hand-wringing -- his first crack at The Joker was lost due to his iPad crashing while experimenting with layers. (See? Even the professionals forget to save every once in awhile…)
Artistic skills even run in the family: Lee’s 15-year-old daughter got ahold of his iPad and did a pretty nice Sketchbook Pro piece on the device by hand as well!
