Console and PC gamers have been enjoying the delightfully frightening Dead Space games for over two years now. Now, iOS gamers will get their chance to experience the spooks of Electronic Arts' horror gaming franchise. Dead Space has reportedly already been released on the New Zealand App Store, and will be making its way to the United States tonight at 11 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The early buzz for the game is incredible. People who have received hands-on time with the final game are saying that the audio is amazing, and needs to be played with headphones in the dark to be appreciated to the fullest. EA is saying the game is about six hours long, making this a hefty chunk-o-game for $5.99 (iPhone and iPod Touch) and $9.99 (iPad). However, it's worth noting that publishers have a tendency to radically overinflate the play time of their games. So we'll just have to see when it comes out.
EA has also released a teaser trailer to show off some of the gameplay found in the iOS version. It looks remarkably similar to its predecessors and still retains its third-person shooter focus. The aim, as usual, is to precisely pick apart the alien Necromorphs by shooting off their limbs. You can check out the teaser video below, but viewer beware: as the previous sentence implies, this game is pretty gruesome.
