If there's one area that the iOS gaming platform has been lacking in it has definitely been quality multiplayer experiences. While the PSP has games like Monster Hunter and SOCOM and Nintendo DS has Mario Kart, the iPhone hasn't had all that many quality multiplayer games worth getting excited about. So our interest was definitely piqued when we learned about the announcement of Crescent Moon Games' 8-player shooter, Deadlock.
Just last week, Crescent Moon Games released the iOS game Gears [iTunes Link] and they're already hitting the ground running and announcing their next title. While Gears is a sort of ball-rolling puzzle game, Deadlock is a twin-stick shooter designed from the ground up for online play.
The game will ship with a variety of levels and three classic online shooter modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture and Hold. Early previews of the game are also saying that it comes with a Call of Duty-style load out system that allows players to customize the gear and weaponry they go into battle with.
The developer is currently aiming to finish and release Deadlock in early June, and cautions that the screenshots released (like the one above) are still very early.
