Dell Looking to Compete in the Chinese Smartphone Market
While we've been watching the finishing touches of an official China iPhone deal, Dell has leap-frogged Apple and released their own smartphone in China.
Called the Dell Mini 3i, it's running the Android operating system and has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display (no physical keyboard). It also features a 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a microSD memory card slot. Like the iPhone, it's running on the GSM network, but unlike the iPhone 3GS, it does not support 3G.
AppleInsider reported that Dell allegedly hoped to have entered the US market with their prototype, but were rejected by all of the carriers.
That's harsh.
