Fellow Mac gamers, we know that the selection of titles can get a little bit sparse in this cruel world filled with PC-exclusives. However, today there's some good news as Direct2Drive has announced they have heard the gentle weeping of the collective Mac gamers and have pledged their support for the Mac gaming community.
In a press release sent out today, IGN's Direct2Drive said that they will continue focusing on encouraging Mac gamers through their Mac Monday discount promotion. The release said it will include "top MAC titles" and that they hope to be a "ray of hope into a dark, PC-game filled world." Today's deal is The Sims 3, and is prominently featured on the homepage.
We all know that Mac gaming isn't exactly as healthy or as bustling as the PC gaming scene, but it's very interesting to see this kind of a move. Valve has also recently been heavily supporting Mac gaming, and now Direct2Drive (perhaps their biggest competitor in the digital download space) is following suit.
The popular myth may be that Mac gaming is practically dead, but these moves clearly illustrate that some major industry players think that it's a market worth going after. This can only mean good things for the future of video gaming on Macs.
