One of the more popular iPad-only apps on the App Store is developer algoriddim’s djay (lower caps are theirs!), a $19.99 app offering pretty much a full DJ experience on your tablet. Now, the developer has whipped out their shrink ray and is now offering a small-screen version for the iPhone and iPod touch.
MacRumors is reporting that algoriddim’s popular djay app has taken a backwards leap that many will welcome. While most apps get designed for the iPhone/iPod touch first and later make the leap to the iPad, djay is doing the reverse by going from the big-screen tablet to the small-screen handset.
“djay transforms your iPhone or iPod touch into a full-fledged portable DJ system and seamlessly integrates with your iPod library, giving you direct access to all your favorite tracks and playlists,” the app description reads. “A hyper-realistic touchscreen interface and ultra-low latency converge to offer you a true professional mixing experience, right in the palm of your hand. You can perform live, record mixes on-the-go, or enable Automix mode and let djay mix your favorite playlist from your iPod library auto-magically!”
Billed simply as djay for iPhone & iPod touch, the developer brings just about all of the popular iPad version’s features onto the small screen, and even manages to slice the price -- only $9.99, half of the iPad version’s $19.99 cost of entry. That should make would-be DJs happy, since they can now carry their def jams around at all times -- or whatever the kids call ‘em these days.
