Online storage service Dolly Drive is taking a jump into Mac-centric business products with the new Dock Station, a hardware and cloud-based backup, sync and storage solution being unveiled this weekend at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show in Las Vegas.
Mac|Life 2011 Award Winner Dolly Drive has introduced a new data storage solution known as Dock Station, which will be on display at the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show in Las Vegas from April 14 though 19 in the storage and data section.
Dock Station is a unique network access storage (NAS) system for Mac users which takes advantage of Dolly Drive’s cloud productivity and protection services, but on the private, local cloud network of any small business who uses it.
“Dolly’s new Dock Station essentially takes all of Dolly’s features and services and powers them through one simple, incredible, connected device,” said Leigh Kessler, Head of Marketing, Dolly Drive. “IT professionals responsible for multiple Mac users in various locations can ensure that employees’ work is backed up locally while giving them cloud productivity tools like file syncing and sharing and cloud storage -- all in a single Apple-friendly interface.”
Apple’s OS X-based Time Machine can take advantage of Dock Station for backing up user files, which can then be pushed to Dolly Drive’s data center for redundant backup in the cloud as well.
“This frees up their Mac’s resources and lets Dolly Dock do all of the work,” Kessler adds. “Simply put: if you are a Mac company and you backup, you should use this product.”
The company hasn’t yet announced pricing for Dock Station, but notes that it works equally well with four people in a home environment as it does with 40 or more in an office setting. A 1.0.8 update to the company’s universal iDolly app with Dock Station support is also available from the App Store. If you’re heading to the NAB show in Las Vegas this weekend, be sure to stop by and check it out in person!
