Startup company, doubleTwist launched a public beta of their new universal media app for the Mac. Their vision for the new media browsing and sharing application is "a single, streamlined interface that connects to any device, media source or network."
doubleTwist allows you to browse your photos, music and movies from a single interface. It also allows you to share your media with your friends or export it to Flickr, YouTube, or Facebook. The app is said to support hundreds of mobile devices and dragging music, photos, or videos to these attached devices will convert your media to mobile format. Unfortunately, iPods and iPhone are not yet supported in the Mac version, but are planned to be included in a future update.
Hardcore Apple fans may remember that doubleTwist was co-founder, Jon Lech Johansen, became famous for releasing the DeCSS software that allowed users to bypass the copy protection on a DVD.
