Ok, this was a surprise, but a cool one. OnLive, the cloud-based, gaming-on-demand service for the Mac OS X and Windows platforms, showed off a demonstration of its iOS version of its game client at E3 in Los Angeles, California.
The client, which has yet to be announced and will be released later this year, simultaneously accesses the OnLive game service via the internet as well as syncs to OnLive's wireless universal controller. The end result is the ability to set up an iOS device (during the demonstration an iPad 2 was used) and essentially use it as a monitor, all the while controlling the game via the wireless controller.
For the AV geek in you, this can go even further, the iPad being hooked to an HDTV via an adapter to offer a second, larger monitor for the gaming experience.
At this point, OnLive's iOS client is still in development and its universal wireless controller (similar to its its current one but snazzier) is in compatibility testing. Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
