Your broom goes faster if you make zooming sounds with your mouth.
EA has confirmed that the game version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released for the Mac, alongside PC and console editions. TransGaming is porting the title to run on Intel, OS X Macs, just like it did with last year’s Order of the Phoenix. EA plans to ship the Mac version on the same day as the others, although with the recent change of the movie date to Summer, 2009, the game date is uncertain. Since the game follows the movie story so closely, we expect the game will also be delayed.
Other than Spore, EA has said little about Mac games since shipping several titles in 2007. Potter game Executive Producer, Jonathan Bunney explained why the new game is Mac-bound, saying, “’Cause it’s a cool computer for start. And I think Harry Potter has got some really broad demographic... and the Mac is an important part of that.” Other than Spore and Potter, EA hasn’t announced any other in-development Mac plans.
When EA returned to self-publishing its Mac titles, many gamers couldn’t find them in retail. Bunney recognized that mistake and plans for a different approach. “[Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix] had a limited distribution. One of the things we want to do this year is make sure we get [Half-Blood Prince] into many, many more stores.”
