You might already know Evernote as the ubiquitous note taking application for your Mac, iPhone and iPad that stores everything in the cloud. This morning, the company announced that it's launching the Evernote Trunk, an in-app showcase of integrated products, services and content. It is designed to bring additional functionality to Evernote users by showing them what sorts of apps they can integrate with their Evernote notebooks.
The Evernote Trunk will be available later today is available now for Mac (Evernote.com), with an iPad version on the way for next week. Mobile devices will have the Evernote Trunk later on. Currently, there are 100 items from 67 companies and today's unveiling will include 30 of those apps. Each of these apps will be categorized by what they do, such as hardware and productivity. The hardware apps will integrate with certain devices to store notes in the cloud, such as scanners and digipens.
Evernote has no plans on charging for the application, though there are a small percentage of users that pay the premium for more monthly storage. The company hopes that more people will be able to use the application for everyday activities like shopping lists and jotting down notes, and that users will be able to do this from every type of device. Additionally, there are plans for social integration, though the company admits that becuse it's a private app this could be tricky. The plan is to have the Evernote Trunk aid in syncing together sites like Facebook and Twitter with notebooks, and Seesmic will be one of the first Twitter clients to do this.
The company also added that 62% of mobile users are accessing Evernote from their iPhone and iPod touches, and 18% are using it via an iPad. Android users are at a close third.
