Exclusive Screenshot: Photoshop CS5 to Feature Blackmail-aware Assistant
Barely a week after Adobe gave us a sneak peek at its revolutionary "Content-aware Fill" feature, sources inside the company pointed to another feature slated to arrive in the next version of Photoshop.
The new "Blackmail-aware Assistant" will analyze images to determine their blackmail value.
The assistant can recognize 10,000 alocholic beverage container labels, taken from any angle, even if they are not in focus. It can also recognize the orientation of a human form, scoring lower on the blackmail scale for perfect vertical or horizontal orientation, and higher for any deviation.
Unlike the "Content-Aware Fill" tool, it doesn't have to be selected. Rather, once the photo is deemed blackmail-worthy, a blackmail note is generated, using IPTC data to fetch your contact information. That note is saved in PDF format (naturally) for easy distribution by e-mail.
Thanks to Adobe's legal team, the note is clear that it is not actually blackmail, but rather an offer to sell exclusive rights to the image for a tidy sum.
"Dear friend," the blackmail note reads. "Perhaps you noticed yourself in this image, which under U.S. and international copyright law is my intellectual property."
"It would be a shame if I were to sell the rights to this potentially embarrassing image without allowing you to make me an offer first."
"Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss purchase terms. This message was automatically generated by Adobe Photoshop CS5 and must not be construed as an attempt to blackmail. It is merely an offer for sale of intellectual property, void where prohibited by law."

The Blackmail-aware Assistant appears as an eyedropper choice in the Info window.
