The just-released update to Facebook's iOS app adds the ability to send voice and video recordings to your Facebook friends, as well as to your timeline. Additionally, Facebook has rolled out improved support for its Nearby tab within the app.
A couple weeks ago, Facebook added VoIP support to its Facebook Messenger app, meaning you can make free calls to people on your friends list (who also use the app). While it may not be VoIP, today's main Facebook iOS app update will now let you attach voice to your chat.

Hitting the "+" symbol next to the message form field opens up a number of options. Hitting the Record Voice button will take you to a recording screen, where holding down the little button captures your voice until you let go. The message is then automatically sent.
You'll also find a Camera button, capable of sending images to your friends in a similar manner. And beyond sending direct messages, you can also record video to upload to post on Facebook right within the app.
The tweaked Nearby tab shows -- you guessed it -- nearby recommendations, with a slightly updated interface. Still on the list of updates I really want: merging the primary Facebook iOS app with the features of Messenger.
