After a couple months of touting its new auto-syncing photo feature for iOS and Android, Facebook has finally made Photo Sync available for one and all. The option should show up at the top of your Facebook app as the system begins to roll out to the masses.
"Today we’re excited to roll out photo sync, which makes it easier to share photos," reads a Facebook press release. "With this feature, photos from your phone sync automatically to a private album on the web. When you want to share these photos, just pick and post your favorites."
Facebook began testing the auto-syncing feature back in August, with select iOS users added as test subjects in the past couple weeks. If you're looking for a convenient way to back up all your iPhone shots to Facebook, Photo Sync seems like a pretty good option.
As you take pictures on your iOS device, the pictures are automatically upload to a private folder on your Facebook profile. Sharing said pictures is as easy as logging in and choosing which pics to expose to your friends.
The Facebook folder is marked as "Synced from Phone."
TechRadar points out that you'll need iOS 6 to run the Photo Sync option, but really, who isn't running iOS 6 on their device, at this point? The feature can also be turned off entirely, if you're worried those muscle pics of you in front of the mirror might somehow go live.
Photo Sync will keep data usage low, by uploading smaller versions of pics when on a cellular network. Wi-Fi connections should upload the full-size photos.
