Facebook Shuts Down Vine Friend Search

Perhaps you've heard of the new social video app, Vine. The looping posts of the new service brought to you by Vine Labs (recently acquired by Twitter) are pretty cool; especially as more of your friends get involved. But if you were planning to find some pals by connecting the app with Facebook, you're going to be disappointed.
Just the latest in a rash of social media companies taking swipes at one another, Facebook has locked out the ability to automatically add Facebook friends to Vine via the iOS app. Can you still add them otherwise? Sure, but you'll have to do so manually through invites (or another format like Twitter and Contacts).
As noted by AllThingsD, trying to search for Facebook friends on Vine now issues a pop-up, stating the app is no longer authorized to make such a request. Bummer.
I spent some time fooling around with Vine this afternoon, and it's actually really fun. In a way, Twitter has capitalized on the power of animated GIFs, providing a seamless way to create short, looping videos on the fly. The videos of your friends appear in a Twitter-like timeline, each one playing as you scroll down the list.
Well, except for your Facebook friends, I guess. No comment from the folks at Twitter, or the Vine development team, as of yet. But I'm assuming the Facebook search option will come out in the next update to the iOS app, assuming an agreement isn't made between the parties.
