FaceTime Comes to the Mac, Beta Available Today

Apple CEO Steve Jobs followed up a preview of the new iLife ’11 suite by introducing FaceTime for the Mac, bringing millions of computer users to the FaceTime party currently limited to only the iPhone 4 and the fourth-generation iPod touch.
After thanking all of the Apple engineers who made technology like iLife ’11 possible, CEO Steve Jobs moved on to the company’s next hat trick, bringing FaceTime to the Mac. The company touted that 19 million users are currently enjoying the technology on their iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch, but the company hopes to add millions more with a new beta version of FaceTime for the Mac.
Following a quick, simple demo of FaceTime for the Mac with Phil Schiller, Jobs announced that FaceTime for the Mac is now available as a beta download from the Apple website.
