When Chair Entertainment released Infinity Blade to iOS devices back in 2010, there's no way the Epic Games-owned developer could have predicted the game's overwhelming success. Just last month, Epic's Tim Sweeney crowned Infinity Blade as the company's "most profitable" title ever; a huge statement, coming from the company behind the mega-selling Gears of War franchise. Skycages is the third, and sadly final, free content update for Infinity Blade II.

Much like the previous two updates to Infinity Blade II, Skycages primarily exists to give you another reason to grind for experience points. The game's one-on-one sword battles are on a somewhat infinite loop, with each death at the hands of a hulking boss sending you back to the beginning -- albeit with an increased skill set and inventory. All told, Skycages introduces 30 new items, including magic rings, swords, armor, and shields. 

While all of the items should have the more obsessive player grinding for hours, one new weapon in particular steals the show. The Solar Transport Energy Blades are basically a long-winded way of saying "lightsaber," and you can even dual-wield the purple beams, if that's your thing. One caveat: the Energy Blades are going to set you back a cool one-million in-game currency. If you're coming up short, you could always buy some gold via in-app purchase. No wonder Infinity Blade is Epic's most profitable title.

Skycages also features a handful of new, challenging titans to beat down. The massive Petrified Noc didn't seem to mind when he slapped our hero silly, causing more than a few checkpoint restarts through the update's new arenas. ClashMobs -- community-based challenges originally added in a previous update -- also receive a few new additions.

So, while it's sad to think we've seen the end of Infinity Blade II, all credit is due to Chair for the continued (free) support of what is easily one of the best games on the App Store. Skycages is more than enough reason to update the app on your iOS device and return to the grind.
