If you didn’t manage to grab an iPad 2 last Friday or successfully get an online order placed in the wee hours of it first being made available, it’s looking increasingly like you’ll have a long wait ahead of you.
MacRumors is reporting that iPad 2 availability is not improving four days after the refreshed tablet was finally unleashed to consumers, with shipping times at Apple’s own online store now being pushed four to five weeks for every single model, regardless of color.
That’s a significant bump from the two to three weeks listed on Apple.com only yesterday, and it comes on the heels of rumors that Apple retail stores would be opening one hour early on Tuesday morning “to accommodate the continued high demand for the iPad.”
For their part, Apple has publicly claimed the demand for the iPad 2 is “amazing,” but has yet to offer any relief for those still waiting to get their hands on one.
Meanwhile, those luck enough to order online on launch day have actually started receiving their orders, with one MacRumors reader reporting that his AT&T order placed early on Friday arrived successfully on Monday. However, it seems that most online orders placed at Apple.com are not yet en route to anxious customers.
